Meet Iron Brew

Iron Brew Tea

Our new tea is packed full of spring goodness. My husband set me the challenge of blending a tea to taste like his favourite drink, and that set me out on this adventure. It was easy to think about colour – turmeric and hibiscus will combine to create a glorious orange colour. But the flavour was more tricky. For the iron, of course nettle is the only choice, as this nutritious weed scavenges nutrients from the soil. Its leaves contain many vitamins and minerals including vitamin C and famously iron. The nettle in our tea is organic and dried, so much of the sting is gone. Once it is immersed in hot water, all of the remaining acid that causes the sting will disperse, leaving only the goodness.

In my mind the main flavour in the famous pop was aniseed, so here you are. An unexpected combination of nettle, dandelion, turmeric, hibiscus and aniseed. Not a girder in sight, but lots of springtime nourishment.

Have a look at the tea.

Coming soon!

Blossom

There is always so many things that are coming soon! My shop is coming soon. New blends are coming soon. The trouble is it is spring time which is a time to get out into nature, to forage, to sew seeds and to create new blends. The spring is also full of new ventures like the monthly Dursley markets (second Saturday of each month). I therefore need to get blending and get cracking to deliver my “coming soon” list.

But some things are here! I’m now doing cute little teabag packs for people to taste, and refill packs to top up our tea tins. And the great news is I’m now a certified as a 5-star food business by Stroud Council, which covers all my processes for making teas. Our home used to be a bakery so it feels appropriate to be making things again in the kitchen.

So new blends to look out for include: Ginger Spice, Iron Brew, Lemon Myrtle, and old favs like Silent Night, Tremendous Pine and Mint S’mint.
