Meet our new spring meadow tea

Its been a busy time as I’ve been starting up our local markets again and I’ve also been creating new tea recipes.

This time of the year many of us crave the lovely fresh flavours of spring-time herbs. For this blend I’ve tried to focus on the herbs we find in meadows and wild places. I really love this blend – its got some of those refreshing bitters coming through that are so good for our digestive system, but I did not want to make it too sweet to counteract that. I went for fieldmint to give it some lift, but without being minty and overpowering.

The blend contains Yarrow, Field Mint, Red Clover, Chamomile, Sage, Marigold, and Feverfew. All organic of course. Some of these aren’t quite in flower yet, but I do notice that marigolds and chamomile now do bloom all year round, particularly over our warmer winters.

If you come on our herbs walks around Dursley with the Cotswold Herb Centre, you will have met all of these plants. We spotted beautiful yarrow at Stinchcombe Hill golf course last August, but you’ll see the tiny feathery leaves cropping up in lawns and meadows around about now. The views from here are amazing and well worth a visit (see below).

Perhaps you could go for a lovely spring-time walk and see how many of these plants you can spot!

If you would like to buy the tea, come and find me at Dursley Market which is the second Saturday of every month under the market square. Or you can buy online here.
